May–June Themes
-
5/3: Worship with Communion
Reflecting on the story of the Road to Emmaus from Chapter 24 of Luke's Gospel, we explore how a sacrament is something that points beyond us and tries to pierce the veil to the eternal.
-
5/10: Mothering Sunday
Lifting up feminine imagery for the divine helps to counterbalance the overwhelming masculine imagery used for centuries. When you hear feminine language about God, how do you respond, and what might that say about your faith in this moment?
-
5/17: Mental Health Sunday

5/24 Guest Minister Rev. Ken Reeves preaching on "A Letter From God"
"I find letters from God dropt in the street, and every one is sign’d by God’s name…" writes Walt Whitman. What would such a letter say? The letter offered in this service offers God's history from primal time to the present as described by God. As God puts it: "I am eternal and evolving."

5/31: Celebrating Pentecost
The story of Pentecost shows us one way to live in community across pluralistic lines of ethnicity and language. When we honor other people's identities without trying to change who they are, we get closer to the kind of beloved community the early Jesus movement pointed to.

6/7: Worship with Communion
Including a sermon from Rev. Carol Steinbrecher, Area Minister for the North Central Region of the Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ.
-
6/14: Learning from Juneteenth
The country seems like it is always in disagreement over the telling of our history. Let's learn from our newest federal civic holiday, Juneteenth, how movements for truth and justice are necessary even when they are long and difficult.
-
6/21: Open and Affirming Sunday
This week we celebrate how our faith values support LGBTQ+ Pride, and how religious organizations can use our constitutional protections to step up in this moment when educational and other institutions standing up for LGBTQ+ folks are under attack.
-
6/28: Baseball Sunday!
A lighthearted service in nine "innings" to cap off our program year including a message from resident Red Sox expert historian Herb Crehan.
