Welcome to our webpage and to the Eliot Church “Worship Section”!

Eliot is a community church in the liberal Christian tradition and as such draws from a variety of sources on Sunday morning.  Each week we strive to provide a quality worship experience that usually includes music (including hymns), prayers, readings from the Bible and other texts, and a sermon.  Also, communion is served on the first Sunday of every month.

If you are interested in attending a service, feel free to drop in!  Services are at 10am and last about an hour (or half an hour in July and August).  The dress code—while some do choose to dress up for church—is relatively casual and the members are quite open and relaxed.  I, or one of our other ministers, will usually be officiating, although we do have guest preachers from time to time as well.  Sometimes our guests are lay members of the church so feel free to say “hello” and ask questions in any event.

You are (of course!) also invited for coffee and conversation after the service.  In addition, your children are welcome to visit the Sunday School which meets during worship.  The children usually leave for school early in the service under the care and guidance of parent volunteers as well as our excellent Assistant Minister of Religious Education, Matthew Carriker, who will often grace us with an insightful “Children’s Focus” for all ages just before they depart.

While we do not have a large collection of sample sermons (our preaching styles don’t always make that possible), some can be found at my weblog, along with other musings, essays and prayers.  The weblog can be accessed here.

I hope that you have found our webpage useful and welcoming, and I hope get to meet you some time in church!

     Faith and Hope,

     Adam
