Religious Education Curriculum

Our curriculum is based on the Biblical tradition of our Judeo-Christian heritage.  We incorporate the study of other religions, issues of social justice and moral choice.  We have found that no standard, "packaged" curriculum satisfies the needs of our diverse community.  Our teachers draw on many sources to prepare lessons.

Each grade introduces Bible stories from the Old and New Testaments with increasing depth in older grades.  Children learn the Ten Commandments, some Psalms, the Lord's Prayer and they study the Beatitudes and other teachings of Jesus.  Perhaps the most important aspect of our curriculum is to ask how these teachings help to guide our everyday actions and decisions.  These questions lead us to explore issues of social justice such as food distribution and world hunger that in turn, motivate our service projects.  Children and youth participate in the Walk for Hunger, support for Heifer International, donations to the Food Pantry, the Natick Service Council meal program, donation of Christmas toys, and the West Virginia Work Project.
