Exciting News from the Eliot Church Search Committee

We are delighted to introduce you all to our recommended ministerial candidate, Rev. Adam Isbitsky from Lexington, MA. Reverend Isbitsky was licensed in the UCC in 2017 and ordained in 2019. He earned his Master of Divinity from the Andover Newton Theological School in 2017, where he served in roles including Student Association President, and Treasurer. Reverend Isbitsky is currently finishing out his term with the Second Congregational Church in Beverly, MA, where he was called as the church's "Legacy Pastor," to help the church conclude its ministry (a decision made by that congregation before calling him!) Before that, Reverend Isbitsky served three years as a Designated Term Pastor for the Ballard Vale United Church in Andover, MA. Leading up to that, Reverend Isbitsky performed a variety of roles including interim minister, sabbatical minister, seminarian, music director, and organist for many local area churches including Wellesley Hills, Whitman, East Weymouth, Middleboro and Holliston. Before entering theological school, Reverend Isbitsky earned a BA in Music and Music education in 2010, and worked in various capacities in music education, musical theater and nonprofit management.

Below, you will find a special greeting from Rev. Isbitsky to the Eliot Church, including a short video introduction.

We hope you will join us for:

  • November 22, 12:30: A meet & greet and light lunch to be held at the Dimmick residence, 12 Sassamon Rd, Natick (a sign-up for contributions will come out soon)

  • November 23, 10:00: Sunday worship service to be conducted by Rev. Adam Isbitsky, followed by a congregational vote on his candidacy

Sincerely,

The Eliot Church Search Committee: Jennifer Dimmick, Jennifer Birch-Israeloff, Ben Otte, Bill Seymour, Regina Wolf-Fritz, Aileen Zogby

Hello Eliot Church!

After warm and inspiring meetings with the Search Committee, it’s time for “the big reveal” of finally getting to share who I am! I’m looking forward to sharing candidating time with you on November 22 & 23. The next few years in the life of this congregation call for reflection, celebration, introspection, and growth. We will look back with gratitude on the long and steady shared ministry of the church with Rev. Adam Tierney-Eliot. We will celebrate big anniversaries: the 375th anniversary of the congregation in 2026 and the 200th anniversary of the meetinghouse in 2028. And we will take some time to look inwardly in each one of our personal and communal spiritualities for opportunities for inner and outer growth.

As a life-long Massachusetts resident, I’ve found it wicked awesome to be in ministry in this time and place. After serving ministries in several area churches, it’s clear to me that the place your church is positioned in is one of real possibilities for a new chapter—one we will write and edit together along the way.

Peace,

Rev. Adam Isbitsky (pronounced: iz-BIT-skee)

Designated Term Minister candidate
